Ile d’Yeu

Enjoy yourself on the Ile d’Yeu

The Ile d’Yeu is a little slice of paradise in the Vendée, accessible by ferry after you leave your vehicle in the secure car park. It is known for beautiful scenery and modernity. The island has everything you need to relax and is a great way to access interesting towns such as Notre-Dame-de-Monts.

Enjoy a wide range of activities at sea

Both on the Ile d’Yeu and in the adjacent town Notre-Dame-de-Monts, where our Le Clos du Bourg campsite is located, you can enjoy many water sports whenever you wish. When you go fishing, you will discover the island’s most beautiful species of fish. The fishermen unload their catch on the docks at Port Joinville. You can taste dishes made with hake, sea bream and other delicious shellfish. You can also rent equipment for:

  • Scuba diving
  • Sea kayaking
  • Surfing.

The island also has many clean, accessible beaches, perfect for relaxing or swimming.

Must-sees on the island

The Ile d’Yeu is known for its Côte Sauvage (Wild Coast), located between Pointe du But and Pointe des Corbeaux, which you must also be sure to visit. Explore the rocks and granite of the Côte Sauvage by foot or bike so that you can see all of its treasures up close. And make sure you visit the Great Lighthouse at the Old Castle and the lighthouse at the little Port de la Meule, overlooked by the Notre-Dame-de-Bonne-Nouvelle Chapel. After the Pointe des Corbeaux, you can admire the dunes, surrounded by the maritime pine forest. A marsh that is home to several species of magnificent birds is nearby.

A gateway to Notre-Dame-des-Monts

In addition to these gorgeous landscapes, the Ile d’Yeu is an exciting place to be year-round with events like the Viens dans mon île (Come to My Island) music festival and the flower festival. You can explore the town of Notre-Dame-des-Monts when you visit the island, a protected area with forests and beaches. You can enjoy the beautiful peace and quiet of the Jardin du Vent with your partner or family. Admire the artwork in Biotopia and learn about the history of the town with a guided tour. And make sure to visit Kulmino! This castle located 70 m above sea level offers a gorgeous panoramic view of the countryside.

When you visit the Ile d’Yeu, make sure to record the experience with your camera before the islanders take their space back at the end of the holidays.
